Hush

When I started this painting I had a pretty good picture of what I wanted. But as per usual, it came alive and grew into something quietly wild and peaceful; edging into the realm of fairytalesque. At the start my oil paint pallet contained mostly greens and some browns, but through the unyielding process it began to expand into a blend of golds, purples, and even a sprinkle of reds. Resulting in a unique and soothing park setting. The final out come evolved into something that seems untouched by time or the harsh outside world that surrounds it. A safe haven, if you will, for those who search for it.

Watchtower

A friend asked me if I would be willing to draw a picture for his up coming book; and so Watchtower was born. I utilized a variety of graphite pencils to portray a harsh, rugged tone. Hoping both the value and hardness of multiple pencils would create texture and depth bringing this character to life. The character himself goes through many hardships and conflicts throughout the book, but somehow he still manages to push trough it all and remain unyielding. I was greatly inspired by this and hoped to interpret that through my depiction of him.

Freelance Artist

This past year I have found my art taking me to new personal levels, stretching me physically, mentally, and spiritually. It has been most rewarding as projects where completed and warmly received and enjoyed. Whether painting an oil derrick to drawing an illustration for a book, the outcome of achieving large projects encourages me to continue on this wild adventure.

The Dark Tree is my latest achievement. It is composed of a mostly black and white oil palette. I added multiple layers of paint to attain a rich textured feel. While searching for inspiration I came across multiple photos in black and white. I was greatly impacted by the texture and depth portrayed by those pictures and wished to achieve that in one of my paintings.
